Printing Wine Tags for one wine using the Tag Wizard

To setup ready to generate your tags,

1. Press the "Tags & Racks" button I am pointing below

2. Check the box "Automatically Assign Tags" and "Allocate 1 tag per bottle"
3. Enter a starting number as I am pointing to below, then clear the field marked "Last tag in batch"
I have entered a 7 digit number to make sure I never duplicate tag numbers and to ensure they are always the same length.
You can enter any text you like, but you should limit it to 12 characters or less, with the last 4 digits being numeric

4. Press OK

Now, whenever you add wines......
1. The program will automatically add a tag per bottle and pop up the virtual wine rack display as I have shown below

2. Press the button marked "Print Selected Tags", and it will popup a display like this

3. You can design your own layout on the label (by adding fields, or just dragging the ones already displayed by default), but for now, just press the button I am pointing to and it will allow you to print your tags for this wine.

4. Note that tags are printed column by column.
Select a new starting position if you like, then press OK.
After selecting the printer, view it's properties and select A4 as the paper size, then press OK and you should see a preview like this.

5. Press the print button I am pointing to above, and the tags will be printed
6. After you have printed the labels, press OK etc to complete saving your new wine record
7. Attach the printed tags to your bottles and place them in your cellar

Using the report generator to print all of the tags at once.

To print all of your tags at once...
  1. Use the menu command Cellar, Print a Report.
  2. Select the report style "Tag Inventory"
  3. Press the "Tag Layout" button
  4. Press the printer button
If ever you want to print a subset of tags later, modify the report (as I have in the example below) so that only the required tags are printed.

Setting up to print custom tags

To setup ready to print custom tags,

1.Open the cellar (Cellar, Open)
2. Go to Reports (Cellar, Print a report)
3. Select the [Tag Inventory] report then press the "Tag Layout" button

4. Select "Default Label (4x14)" so you have example fields on a standard label.

5. Move the fields by a left-click and drag the respective field. Add Change or Remove fields or barcodes via a right-click.

6. Set the dimensions in the upper panel (tag or label size etc) to match the sheet of labels you have. Use the Page offset to allow for the border on the left hand side and at the top of the sheet
7. Save the tag template so you can retrieve later then press the print button
8. To help check your layout, tick "Show border around tags"

Select a new starting position if you like, then press OK.
After selecting the printer, view it's properties and select the appropriate paper size
You may also need to adjust the paper margings for your printer, but start initially with the default values.

10. Press OK and you will see a preview like this, including a line printed around each label
If necessary, go back to step 5 and move the fields to their desired location

11. Press the print button to print the labels
Repeat from step 6 as necessary to get the printed borders to align with the edge of each lable on your custom sheet of labels.
Tip: Use a blank sheet of paper until you have the borders correct
12. Save the tag template so you can retrieve it when printing more of these labels
