Wine regions in Germany usually referred to are the 13 defined regions for quality wine.
These 13 German wine regions are
- Ahr
- Baden
- Franken (or Franconia)
- Hessische Bergstrasse (or Hessian Mountain Road)
- Mittelrhein
- Mosel (Previously known as Mosel-Saar-Ruwer)
- Nahe
- Pfalz (or Palatinate)
- Rheingau
- Rheinhessen (or Rhenish Hesse)
- Saale-Unstrut
- Sachsen (or Saxony)

You may also find a wine described as being produced on the Rhine or its tributories - not suprising given that most German wine is produced along the river Rhine and its tributaries.
